VANCL was established in 2007 and is one of the earliest Internet bands. T-shirts are regarded as the main low price product. The main customer target is "literary youth”: middle school, college students, and office workers. In 2016, the Mu Dan series Chinese vernacular poetry design T-shirt became the best-selling product of the year. It is the first time in nearly 100 years that the best vernacular Chinese poet Mu Dan has received attention in the view of mass consumption. This caused an unexpected increase in search volume for these T-shirts, with search traffic increasing by multiples of tens of thousands. This is the first time that T-shirts have become a carrier of Chinese native culture in the form of art and gave rise to a huge burst of commercial energy. The descendants of Mu Dan were very impressed and took initiative to send a lot of e-mails. It is the first time that an artist seriously brought Mu Dan poetry to the mass audience through the general appearance of a picture. It was very challenging. But it seems that Nan Zhou did well. VANCL took big step straight to success, winning the heart of the "literary youth” customers. The popularity of Chinese native culture received a revival, demonstrating how art and design can influence massive public consumption.
