| DESIGN NAME: Typographic Posters PRIMARY FUNCTION: Poster series INSPIRATION: This work is deeply influenced by various characters such as the optical artists like Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley, Omar Rayo, Carlos Cruz Diez, and on the other hand, designers like Muller-Brockmann, Wolfgang Weingart, Niklaus Troxler, Isidro Ferrer or Felix Beltran. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a collection of posters made during 2013 and 2015. These posters were commissioned by friends for different reasons. This project involves the experimental use of typography through the use of lines and isometric perspective, this made a visual game where characters and typographic signs appears and disappears. 1. Poster to celebrate 40th Anniversary of Felix Beltran 2. Poster to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Gestalt Institute 3. Poster to protest over missing 43 students in Mexico 4. Poster for design conference Passion and Design V 5. Thirteen Sound by Julian Carillo OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Typographic posters are a perceptual experience related to how vision functions. As the Op Art, this project is based in two primary ways. The first, and best known method, is the creation of effects through the use of pattern and line. Another reaction that occurs is that the lines create after images of certain colours due to how the retina receives and processes light. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2013 and finished in 2015 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Poster images were made with Adobe Illustrator using a grid of lines, with no 3D support, and printed in silkscreen in free-acid paper. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The original format is 600 mm x 900 mm TAGS: Typography, Design, Print, Poster RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This project involves the experimental use of typography through the use of lines and isometric perspective, this made a visual game where characters and typographic signs appears and disappears. This technique was shown to be an effective way to reproduce some principies of the optic art. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge for this project was the typographic expression. NAME: BlueTypo PROFILE: BlueTypo is a freelance design studio, focusing on typography, identities, publications, posters, books, exhibitions and websites. This studio is owned and run by Erendida Mancilla and Manuel Guerrero since 2000.
