Nguyen Thu Thuy is a visual artist who is based in Hanoi. Born in 1971, she is the general director of New Hanoi Arts Co., Ltd. She is the mastermind and the lead designer behind the Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic Mural (HCM) project, which won the Guinness World Records. This project was certificated as the largest ceramic mosaic in the world in October 2010 and has never been broken since. After the world-famous HCM project, Thu Thuy continued to develop several public art projects not just across Vietnam but also internationally. Her artworks can be found in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Truong Sa, Da Nang (Vietnam) and Choisy le Roi (France). In April 2018: Nguyen Thu Thuy won a Silver A’Design Award for her Hanoi Ceramic Mosaic in the Hanoi Mirror House. In June 2017, Thu Thuy and New Hanoi Arts collective won the Bronze at the 10th International Design Awards (IDA) in Los Angeles (USA) for the mural of Vietnam tropical garden at Da Nang International airport ; Thu Thuy also won the Honourable mention of 10th International Design Awards (IDA) for her Love Hanoi mosaic Heart sculpture by the Truc Bach lake and the Honourable mention of 8th IDA for her Hanoi Golden Lotus fountain in Mai Xuan Thuong park. Thu Thuy, who has a clear understanding of the role of art in the community, continues to pioneer in creating public pieces that resonate with local people as well as international guests. Being able to develop a deep appreciation for public art is rare in Vietnam, but Thu Thuy is breaking those barriers.
