The Multicultural Temple shows the human strive for survival. For centuries, myths, gods and religions have offered security and meaning of life. At the same time, religions have brought conflicts and war. This is a non-religious and a multi-religious temple at the same time, meant as a safe place for every one. To enhance a feeling of security each religion has its own identifiable element in this temple like the convex- protection, concave- inviting, a staircase-steps of development, spire to heaven, and a circle-wisdom and knowledge. The temple should be a peaceful protecting shelter.
As a human being each of us has the ability to be a social person. A person who can contribute to happiness and a deeper understanding in live. Especially art and design can have a huge part in it. During my time as an artist in my own residence at sculpturegarden 't Ulenest I had a great time when working with artists who had to leave their native country. After choosing a theme we made sculptures from materials we got from companies nearby. There was music from Moldaviƫ, Iraq, Congo, Armeniƫ etc. After about 14 days of hard work, we made an exhibition in the garden and after a great vernisage our refugee artists felt like human beings again.
This temple was created by an independent visual artist who is developing and building a collection for exhibitions. Key words are forward- thinking, take care of and respect for all living beings. As a metaphor she uses cells and primordial landscapes made of stone, clay and glass.
