This diverse background merges in an extraordinary approach to arts and design, as her work shows a slightly odd habit of constantly observing and questioning everything in a quite ironical and satirical manner. Illustrations might seem just pleasantly beautiful at first but turn into sociopolitical statements at a second glance. Miriam Trilety’s designs challenge the viewer in his or her artistic perception while the discrepancy between graphic design and psychotherapeutic approach seem to blur. Design and art in general do not only have the potential but always the duty to reflect on actual social politic phenomena. This is why I always felt a strong connection to creatively rearrange and counteract everyday life interactions. I would state that the origin of all political carnival and horror takes place in the very moment of daily social encounters, from which higher collective ideas emanate and certain political ideologies originate from. This is where it begins and finds its end. Therefore, I have become more and more convinced that artistic expression always contains a certain biographically influenced political and historical interpretation of the human’s existence. In my view, it is not only the personal perspective on one’s life and politics but also a singular historical document of the collective human’s mind that is building a very valuable visual »mind map« of history itself. I enjoy visualizing these fractal mind maps even though they do not necessarily lead to any form of perfection. It is an open space of interpretation and failing, or falling for a meaningful moment at all. To put it I a nutshell, I actually think in pictures, that is what it is, thinking and fantasizing in images.
