RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Most of the research was focused around Indian symbols in feminism throughout the history of India's multicultural challenges. There were a lot of figures that powered women's movement in India but it was important to honor the figures that had a lasting impact. Goddess Durga represents the all encompassing energy of the universe. She is one of the few female goddesses that are considered powerful in their own accord unrelated to their spouses. Savitribai Phule was one of the most prominent social reformer of her time championing women’s rights . An ardent champion of women’s rights, Pandita Ramabai authored the book The High Caste Hindu Women which showcased the objectification of the Hindu women under a patriarchal Brahman society.

CHALLENGE:
The most challenging part of the project was honoring the legacy of these icons yet making them and their work relatable and relevant to the current generation without trivializing their efforts. Even more, since India is such a censored country, my efforts to get the work published and/or sold have been met with refusals by companies as they are afraid of backlash from associating with anything that uses a religious symbols or pictures of goddesses.
