RESEARCH ABSTRACT: "Floral Pavilion" is dome with piercing patterns of Islamic carpet inspired by its influence to the world. In all of the design, Tabriz carpet is one of the world-famous carpet categories and it is the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province in northwest Iran. The quality of design, technique and skill of Tabriz carpet is marvellous and it is a piece of art. Via an in-depth research of the carpet's patterns development and its evolution, we outlined the carpet patterns and depicted in figure and ground. Then we based on the research and extracted the geometry of traditional Islamic Carpet to form a hemispherical dome.
CHALLENGE: The construction period of Floral Pavilion was between 7 to 12 December 2017, 6 days. In order to deliver the Floral Pavilion within a short period of time and working with UAE construction team, we had gone through multiple discussion and communication. The importance of effective communication exhibited in this project. To further ensure the fabrication in UAE went well, we have especially visited the factory in Dubai to coordinate with the local contractor making sure every detail is in expectation.
