| DESIGN NAME: Harmony PRIMARY FUNCTION: Vertical Flowerbed INSPIRATION: Our goal was to create an easy-to-use, low cost product that will be accessible for a wide variety of users. Harmony saves up to 90% of the land and 80% of water needed for irrigation. It makes possible growing and eating healthier foods even with an urban lifestyle with no available garden. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Harmony, is a hydroponic growing system, designed to grow a variety of :Fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices & herbs. The Advantages of Harmony - Save up to 90% of the land - Save up to 80% of the water - Now everyone can grow anywhere - Grow and eat healthier food - High throughput farming - An easy growing method, perfect for handicaps/people with special needs OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The assembling of Harmony contains 10 easy steps, after that all you have left is Sprouting & Planting and enjoy your own variety of fresh & healthy herbs, vegetables & flowers. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Unlike other hydroponic systems, Harmony is designed and manufactured as a one piece product, this simplifies the assembly of the product and enables a DIY approach. Furthermore, a one piece product without connectors and joints, prevents leaking and dirt. The chosen manufacturing method of rotation, provides a low cost, and a more affordable product. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - Height: 165 cm (including wheels) - Water tank (Base) radius: 30 cm - Water tank volume: 35 liters - Growing tower, with 20 separated planting pockets - 20 reusable net pots - Upper hoarding mini tank- in which water are accumulated, then run down the growing tower, providing the roots with water & nutrients - 30 W Water pump – to power the closed loop circulation - Balanced, slow release fertilizer sufficient for 6 months of growing - Wheels set - to allow easy mobility & handling - Drainage tap at the bottom of the water tank- to allow easy cleaning & handling TAGS: hydroponics, growing system, flower bed, hydroponic gardening, water tower RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Harmony was designed and finalized after 2 years of research. The final dimensions and angels were chosen after building and trying a wide variety of prototypes. CHALLENGE: Our biggest challenge was to ensure the assembling will be fast and easy for untrained users. for that, I designed the inner parts asymmetrical, so there is only one correct way to fix it all together. every part has its own precise place.
