| DESIGN NAME: Mercat Barcelona-Typeface PRIMARY FUNCTION: Typography INSPIRATION: Mercat Barcelona typeface is inspired by the modernism and art-deco movement which is an every day surrounding in the city of Barcelona, such as the basic shapes of sculptures, architecture and modernist paintings of our city. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: MERCAT BARCELONA, is a experimental typography , made for titles, inspired by the modernism and art-deco movement of Barcelona.The function of this typography is to be a complementary, decorative part of texts or graphic compositions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Mercat Barcelona is a experimental typeface which is best applied for titles or typographic compositions. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was made in barcelona 2015.The duration of the project, from inspiration, research, realization, and operation was about two months approximate. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The most important element to produce this font was to make the grid system which was based on straight lines and circles in order to "clean up" the messy sketches of our first ideas.Next step was to vectorize each letter and finally put it in a font program to make an otf file. CHALLENGE: One of the difficulties of making this font was actually to find a balance between legibility and ornamental elements.Another difficult phase was the conclusion of shape it in a contemporary way.
