Davide Volpe AlvaroFdz Mattias Lindström, the lead designer of the winning project Mercat Barcelona-Typeface explains “Studio Outline created the typeface "Mercat Barcelona" to celebrate the city that they live and work in, Inspired by the playful but still elegant Modernist (Art-Deco) building decorations which is very characteristic for Barcelona. Used to travel around in their city from end to end gathering inputs such as architecture, sculpture and graphics that fills each corner of Barcelona, Studio Outline felt the urge to use all of this material and capture it some how.
