| DESIGN NAME: The Bag with Colored Combination Lock PRIMARY FUNCTION: Combination lock bag INSPIRATION: The colored combination lock can be a big identity in bag's design, not just logo, shape, or pattern. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a bag with lock. The point of this design is colored combination lock. We can open the bag with color matches not just numbers. Various bag's exterior design can be created with special fashion accessory, colored lock. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The opening mechanism of operation is same as combination lock. The number space is filled with exclusive colors so that users can make their own colors to open the bag. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This idea appears in my mind 2011 in Seoul, South Korea. Then, a lot of experiments make it success were performed during 2012-2013. First product of whole design finalized 2013. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Bag's exterior is made of crocodile leather, and its interior is made of pink suede. In combination lock part, it is filled with exclusive and metallic colors using air brush. Air brush sprays IPP paint using at car coloring. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions of whole bag: 280mm x 100mm x 220mm, Dimensions of the lock : 25mm x 65mm x 7mm / Technical properites : Coloring with air brush, Treating leather skills, 3D-modeling to research. TAGS: lock bag, fashion accessory, the lock, colored lock, number lock, bag RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First time of this project, I dissected various design locks, and researched all components. Then, calculating each component accurately with vernier calipers. Second experiment consists of 3D-modeling with solid-works program, and did 3D-printing, too. Coloring is the core of this project. After many coloring experiments using various materials, 'the lock' was succeed to visualize. CHALLENGE: The Creative : All fashion accessories have their signature with material, pattern, logo, etc. But there are no signature with colored combination lock. Its strong point is that I don't need to put pattern or logo necessarily in exterior part. / Research Challenge : As I tried to color small space of lock, it failed many times. I researched lock products deeply, from operation to 3D-printing. Coloring is the hardest part of this whole design. I was succeed with air brush used for gundam(toy) coloring.
