Interview with jiwon, Shin. at Sunday 26th of January 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? JS: Users can open the lock with their own colors not just numbers. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? JS: Coloring is most important part of whole design. Each number is filled with exclusive colors. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? JS: Launch the fashion accessories brand covers fashion accessories ; various exterior design bags with customizing colored combination lock FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? JS: Idea concept started at 2011, but slowly developing within 2 years. Whole concept is finalized at 2013. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? JS: This idea is my own idea, and I like this concept to give big identity of fashion area. I decided to pursuit an inspiration. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? JS: I have my own design right in South Korea. I produce my work myself but I'd like to sell myself or with multi-fashion shops. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? JS: Especially, I worked at shoe-pattern making factory for 3 months in 2013. That time I learned about how to treat leather products. Thanks to that experience, I'd like to design these things. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? JS: Fashion magazines are helping to give me some creative idea in fashion area. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? JS: Someone who like precious product, extraordinary or unique items. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? JS: Lock is main concept of this design. I give the name more directly, the lock. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? JS: With computer, to visualize this design, I used illustrator, photoshop, solid-works. But manufacturing this whole product, air brush with IPP paints, crocodile leather, hot pink suede, knife, sewing tools are used. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? JS: Users can open the lock with their own color password. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? JS: Coloring with air-brush FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? JS: Making good quality of photos is very important, so I took photos to create simple and impact ones.
