| DESIGN NAME: X2Chair PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sustainable armchair INSPIRATION: Everytime i watch this chair - or chaise longue as you want it - I see an imaginary hand which draws lines and harmonizes them. Sense contains passion because X2Chair is a deeply intimate object, a relaxing place for us and our beloved objects. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The sinuous forms and the choice of materials enhance the innovative capacity of this chair with a thousand lives. X2Chair is the result of a process of experimental design that relies entirely on the convertibility of the products. Designed to have many functions and adapt to all needs, this object follows a concept of total customization and is the expression of an ecofriendly design. X2Chair is a part of the furnishings line "Giorgio Caporaso Ecodesign Collection". OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: X2Chair can be an unusual armchair or a luxurious chaise longue. It can become a single, a double or multiple seating comfortable sofa. For both indoor and outdoor spaces. There are endless combinations of materials and details which give fluidity to this sensory multifunctional seat, made even more comfortable by empty rounded compartments that can contain objects as well as its lounger pad. X2Chair has its spare parts and all its components can be easily separated to go to different disposal or recycling. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2001 in Varese. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: X2Chair can be made of cardboard, wood (varnished for outdoor use), and other materials being tested. X2Chair can also be embellished with side panels and replaceable and changeable over time finishes. Empty spaces guarantee lightness, aesthetic movement, material saving and energy conservation. This chair is produced with a simple technology meditated for reducing its environmental impact. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Its components can be easily separated, stokked and transported. The research process was focused on the quality of life of the objects we use in harmony with the concept C2C. The objective was to create a product multifunctional, easy to use, long-lived and to become fond of. CHALLENGE: The challenge was in the relation between form and function. I wanted to create an elegant and useful armchair to grow fond of. An ecosustainable chair realized with recycled or eco-friendly materials which has a long and variable life.
