Interview with Giorgio Caporaso at Tuesday 29th of April 2014 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? GC: I was fascinated by the relation between shape, multifunctionality and material saving. Also my life-experiences influenced this project in which sensoriality is a relevant feature. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? GC: X2Chair expresses the aim of creating a multifunctional chair easy to use. I wanted a chair with a thousand lives able to show clearly its different uses in different positions without losing aesthetical harmony. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? GC: About one year FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? GC: Designing X2Chair has been a challenge which started from a personal need. It was not commissioned. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? GC: X2Chair is produced by LESSMORE brand FS: Who is the target customer for his design? GC: Everybody who loves it FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? GC: X2Chair is a confortable chair which can be transformed in an elegant chaise-longue. Its original shape is designed not only to be pleasant but also to reach the best functionality in an eco-friendly way. Aesthetic refinement and environmental respect find here a meeting poit. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? GC: The production process of X2Chair requires a simple technology with a low environmental impact. Its production aims also at energy and materials saving. Recycled, natural and eco-friendly materials of latest-generation are also used.
