DESIGN NAME: Rebirth of The Rust Belt
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Conference Center Building
INSPIRATION: The design was inspired by an abandoned factory that existed near the site. The shape of the building has a certain similarity with the industrial equipment in the factory. The facade adopts weathering steel plates and aluminum plate curtain wall. We wish to carry out
urban renewal while maintaining the local industrial context, and create a good environment
for the local area with a brand new yet traditional building.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: An exhibition and conference building.
Different from other conference centers in China,it does not adopt a huge volume and a axisymmetric layout, but fully respects the local tradition, with soft curved shapes and building materials, it can continue the traditional memory, and be friendly to the public. It also provides sufficient outdoor space for citizens.It's a green building. The comprehensive energy consumption is reduced by 72% compared with regular buildings.
