Xander Bremer is a San Francisco-based designer. His experience in mechanical engineering, art, architecture, and fabrication is the basis for a holistic approach to design that can approach a problem from many angles. In all his work, the supporting physics, structures, mechanisms, and materials are pulled to the fore and celebrated. The result is simplified, iconic forms that become the voice for a philosophy in which living simply lives makes us richer. Xander studied at Stanford University’s Joint Program in Design – a 50-year old, interdisciplinary master’s program between art and engineering. Previously, he earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University in New York City. Xander has worked for Apple in manufacturing in Shanghai, China, designed kinetic architecture with Olson Kundig Architects in Seattle, WA, and started a business in Brooklyn, NY repairing high-end carbon fiber racing bicycles. He also spent five years racing road bicycles professionally from Vermont to California, and spent a season living and training in Bruges, Belgium while racing in Europe.
