Hazuto Cutting and Serving Board

Hazuto is a fresh aesthetic on the ubiquitous kitchen board space. A brushed metal rim binds the board, protecting it from warping, splitting, knocks and drops. The metal-wood combination is a pleasing new tactile experience. The warmth of the wood contrasts with the austere stainless steel frame. The screws are characteristically placed to complete an industrial sensibility. A negative corner-space forms a handy hook. The singular shape is preserved, absent of unnecessary distractions or additions. The result is an efficient, clean, two-tone form that’s as eye-catching as it is ergonomic.

Husband-wife partners-in-crime Melanie Man and Tom Chan sat up Hazuto to bring our best design ideas to life. We chase these values: grounded, unassuming, meticulous. We lived in the UK for sometime before settling in Hong Kong and creating Hazuto – you may have noticed the English influence on our work. Tom adds value through his experience in product development that is patented and awarded. Mel brings value with a decade of business and marketing experience. One thing’s for sure: we won’t launch something we wouldn’t use ourselves, so you can bet our work has been through countless iterations, which has driven our suppliers (and each other) crazy from time to time! We are pleased Hazuto board has been awarded twice with a Plus X Design Prize (Germany) for High Quality + Design and a A’ Design Prize (Italy) Bronze winner.

hazuto aspires to design refined but unassuming homeware products that understated users will desire. We want to be an alternative to the over-marketed, glam-glam commercial product companies by operating with integrity, groundedness and keeping it real (with a healthy dose of cynicism). Our roots stem from years living in the United Kingdom, and absorbing some extent of British culture, inspiring our practical mindset.
