This series is consisted of Ri /Shan/Shui. Ri/The Chinese character Ri, meaning the sun, is completed when a writing brush is set on the paperweight. It is made of Walnut and brass to express the warmth of and handwriting. Shan/The shape of this paper town reflects the Chinese character Shan. In Chinese poetry, the mountain is a conceptual metaphor of a scholar’s integrity. Shui/The transparent of glass represents water flow, reminding people that words can be as soft as water, yet powerful.
I am a senior of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology who major in Industrial Design. With the experience of learning Chinese Calligraphy, the most attractive product to me will be the one which is full of cultural meanings, as a result, designing products that could introduce the beauty of Taiwan to the world would always be one of my life goals.
Studio HY was founded by Chiahsun Tsai and Tzuying Chen in 2017, Taipei, Taiwan. This studio is dedicated to integrating traditional craftsmanship and cultural significance into its products, trying to present the old culture to the world with a new look.
