The MonoPunk is an experimental collection about how punk ideology inspires daily-use products. They include a mask-incorporated headphone and a wearable vacuum cleaner, both have been outfitted with leather accents and metal spikes to add personality in items. The design blended the various possibilities of the mixed texture and bonding techniques to renovate the elements of modern punk electronics. Through the use of anti-fashion styling, a user can show off the rebellious spirit while performing household chores.
Cheng-Jay Tsai received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Shih Chien University, Taiwan. He was a one-year exchange student in TH Köln, Germany. He is currently a graduate student in Applied Arts at National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. He has rewarded the MOE Scholarship Program in 2019 and will engage in advanced studies at ArtCenter College of Design, USA. He majors in Industrial Design, especially in product design, design thinking, and computer graphics in modeling emphasis. He had an internship in WHYIXD Studio for three months. With the experience of being an assistant in a class, design studio, and teamwork, he has the organizational skills to arrange a lecture, a presentation, and an exhibition.
Department of Industrial Design was established in 1992. Under the trend and demands of the industry. Master Program and On-job Training Program of the graduate institute were established respectively in 1998 and 1999. The goals for the under-graduate program are “Professionalism, Internationalization, and Industrialization,” whereas “the combination of theories and practices and the interdisciplinary studies across all fields” are set for the graduate programs. In September, 2009, Business Week Magazine reviewed the curricula of S.C.I.D. as one of the TOP 30 World’s Best Design Programs.
