Arterial was commissioned to design the new Waltzing Matilda Centre exhibition space in Winton, Queensland. Destroyed by fire in 2015, the original Waltzing Matilda Centre was a cultural beacon of the Winton community, with literally thousands of artefacts and stories that showcased not only the essence of the song, but the people themselves. The new centre takes visitors on a journey, immersing them in an experience that is layered with unique content and perspectives.
The focus of our design and expertise is in engaging audiences and activating the overall visitor experience. The success of our work leaves visitors feeling motivated, inspired and connected. Arterial understands people and their relationship to place - how they move through and react to space is at the heart of our design. Working in the public realm requires a detailed understanding of how people experience different spaces, how spatial relationships require considered linkages and connectivity to succeed, and be meaningful within the context of the overall visitor journey. Whilst Arterial has built it's reputation on a high level of creativity, we are also well known for our rigorous project management processes, thorough knowledge of materials and fabrication processes, on-site and installation issues and responsible design and management of costs. We are experienced in delivering our projects from early concept through all the design phases including strategic site planning, detailed design, tender documentation, fabrication management, construction design administration, quality control and installation.
