Jing'an District and Zhabei District, are located in the center of Shanghai, China. At the end of 2015, it was announced that the two districts were to be merged into a new district. To commemorate this event, the government wanted to build a unique installation at the junction of two districts, as a symbol of unity and cooperation. A lighting installation builds an illusion of strings connecting the top of road lighting poles, redefining a new landscape space over Hengfeng Road Bridge at night.

About the client Shanghai Jing'an District Greening and City Appearance Administration is a department of the district government responsible for coordinating the external appearance management and exerting administrative function of greening, as well as the comprehensive management of city appearance and environmental sanitation of the district.
