Daily Headlines is a project that re-imagines newspaper design using typographic illustrations. News headlines are sourced each day online and then expressed graphically with typography, latent with subtle commentary. Using the illustrations and the original news article, a printed newspaper was designed out of digital content.
Hui is a multidisciplinary designer specializing in brand identity, creative direction, and graphic design. She previously worked at Apple’s Marketing & Communications design team, and has worked at afreeman and Small Stuff where she led projects that include brand identity systems, digital interfaces, signage and environmental design. A former third culture kid with a past ambition in comparative literature, she is very interested in culture and its critique.
Hui Chen Ou Yang is a multidisciplinary designer currently based in New York. She has spent her life living in various cities: Surabaya, Indonesia; Taipei, Taiwan; San Francisco, U.S.A.; and now New York City. She is interested in social, racial, and environmental issues. Her work has been recognized by the Type Directors Club, Art Directors Club Chinese Young Guns, and the Adobe Design Achievement Awards. She received her BA in Design at the School of Visual Arts, and also holds a BA in English Studies from National Central University, Chungli, Taiwan.
