University of Melbourne - Arts West Upholstered Acoustic Panels

Our brief was to supply and install a multitude of Fabric wrapped Acoustic panels with various sizes, angles and shapes. Initial prototypes saw changes in both the design and the physical means of installing and suspending these panels from the walls, ceilings and the underside of the staircases. It was at this point we realised that the current proprietary hanging systems for ceiling panels were not adequate for our needs and we designed our own.

The Client working on behalf of the University on this project was Kane Constructions Pty Ltd. The project consisted of a $66 Million redevelopment of a 1960's building that had reached the end of it's useful life. Works consisted of the construction of a new building over the previous 1960's building, including the construction of a six storey Atrium. The end result was a major piece of infrastructure for the University of Melbourne that enabled the creation of a new dynamic teaching space for both Staff and Students,
