Studio Outline created the typeface "Mercat Barcelona" to celebrate the city that they live and work in, Inspired by the playful but still elegant Modernist (Art-Deco) building decorations which is very characteristic for Barcelona. Used to travel around in their city from end to end gathering inputs such as architecture, sculpture and graphics that fills each corner of Barcelona, Studio Outline felt the urge to use all of this material and capture it some how. That is how Mercat Barcelona was born.

Outline is a barcelona based Illustration/Graphic Design studio founded in 2011 by Alvaro Fernandez, Davide Volpe and Mattias Lindström. They describe themselves as a creative space of illustration and graphic design in a constant phase of evolution and research on different techniques, media and methodologies.
