Michael Parson Lale Dingbat typeface
Lale Dingbat typeface is Silver Design Award winner in 2014 - 2015 Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award Category.
Lale Dingbat typeface

The designer, Michael Parson, has long been curious of the possibilities that Opentype scripts now offer type designers. Thanks to this technology, design is no longer limited to the basic forms but can be enhanced with additional glyphs, ligatures or other features. He wanted to explore how to integrate these options into the less explored world of dingbat fonts. The resulting font, Lale offers a range of visuals that can be accessed by simply typing a sequence of signs, either letters; for the flowers, or numbers, for the stems. Both can be combined for a total of 4680 combinations.

Michael Parson

Design has always been central to Michael Parson's life, through his work in his own design studio of Parson Research or with the Typogama type foundry. Having set up his studio at quite a young age, Michael has grown through his work and contact with clients that have allowed him to discover new industries, new cultures and the rich history of design, especially in typography. One quote can sum up his attitude to design, 'we are walking on the shoulders of giants', and through his work, he aims to respect the innovations of the past masters while attempting to add something new and original to the world in which we live. He has worked both with local, Swiss brands but equally with larger international brands and currently enjoys a part time teaching role where he can continue to explore solutions with the new generations of designers in a course on branding and typography. When he is not working for his various graphic design projects, you will probably find him working on another typeface design!

Typogama

Typogama is the personal type foundry of Michael Parson and is based in Geneva, Switzerland. It was founded in 2002 as an experimental platform for Michael's type creations but has steadily grown into a professional outlet that aims to create innovative yet functional fonts for designers. With over 40 typeface families currently on sale, Typogama pride's itself on it's eclectic selection of styles and influences as Michael believes that there should be a typeface to match each message. Despite only distributing the works of Michael Parson, Typogama releases around 5 new typefaces every year and has many more works in progress, so new releases will be coming soon!
