Madalin Gheorghe from Studio SIMPLEXIO has envisioned PRIMO, a series of custom coffee tables that combine generative design principles with flexible computer-aided manufacturing systems. The intricate geometry is derived from a space-partitioning algorithm called voronoi, which deals with means of matter aggregation at cellular levels in nature. To produce this shape, the designer inputs basic mathematical instructions into a computer and allows the program to generate the form. The pieces are then laser-cut, assembled in an origami-folding fashion, manually welded and powder coated.
Simplexio was born out of an intense admiration for the beauty of patterns created by nature. We achieve timeless furniture design which talks about forms that existed before time with the help of digital fabrication and generative design principles.
