Invisible parking fortification Vechten Parking lot and entrance national museum

This is the entrance to the new national museum of the Dutch Waterline in fortification Vechten. It is an unique car-park for 250 cars and 100 bicycles that is invisible when there are no cars. It looks like a meadow with concrete anti-tank elements and stork nests. When the cars are parked the fortress and concrete bunkers are accentuated by sight-lines. It is a cradle to cradle entrance. The parking-place can, without any problem be eliminated and materials can be reused. The walking path is made of concrete without cement. The grass-tiles are made with 50% old concrete.

PARKLAAN landscape architects

Parklaan landschape architects translate the past to the future. It is an office that is specialised in landscape planning and design for 'green' cultural heritage (historical- and archeological sites), cradle to cradle and biobasedlandscapes. We make hidden archeological sites visible by landcaping. We do not restaurate historical landschapes but translate them to the present and make them ready for the future. Modern landuse and old values are combined in designs.
