Aliki Rovithi The FA.B. Fabric Bookcase
The FA.B. Fabric Bookcase is Silver Design Award winner in 2011 - 2012 Furniture Design Award Category.
The FA.B. Fabric Bookcase

The “Fa.B.” is a fabric bookcase and a fabulous new way to store, arrange and protect your books and magazines. Outside the rationale of any shelving system, “Fa.B.” offers the user renewable storage space. A single or more modular fabric units can be added to the wooden stand in a few minutes. The durable fabric along with the wide open wooden sides of “Fa.B.” gives us the opportunity to use as little raw materials as possible, according to the "dematerialization" approach that our times require. The “Fa.B.” is an easy to move around, foldable – literally!- flat-pack furniture.

Aliki Rovithi

In 2007, Aliki Rovithi and Foant Asour founded their creative studio DEDE DextrousDesign which still to this day hosts their never ending love for debate and experimentation. Although they carry an artistic background as well, as industrial designers they have to operate within the strictly commercial and profit- driven requirements of mass production. Their personal goal for the future and their biggest anxiety so far, is not to stop loving what they do, because of this constrained environment. They would like to keep on giving an open and enthusiastic welcome to new things and remain able to create design projects that deliver messages in effective and memorable ways.

DEDE DextrousDesign

Aliki Rovithi and Foant Asour formed an Athens based industrial design team called DEDE DextrousDesign. They have been working together since 2007 and they have participated in “DESIGN 2009”,“DESIGN LAB 2010”, “GREEN DESIGN FESTIVAL 2010”, “GREEK DESIGN 2011%”, “SMLXL HELLENIC DESIGN” and “DESIGN 2011”, design exhibitions in Athens. From the 14th to the 19th of April 2010 DEDE participated in the international fair for young designers SALONESATELLITE 2010, in Milan. DEDE think that innovation, conceptual approach and humor can generate unorthodox and stimulating thinking that contributes to progressive ideas and therefore to unconventional design items. DEDE received the RED DOT award:design concept 2010 for the THIS SIDE UP table. Their humanitarian aid packaging THE HAP PROJECT was nominated for the INDEX: Award 2011. INDEX: Award is looking for designs that target and solve the challenges and problems of human life. From 23 to 27 of April 2011 DEDE’s work was presented at the DESIGN SHOW of the 109th CANTON FAIR, in Canton, China. Their design item GET THE HANG OF IT bag won the Platinum A’ Design award 2010-2011, while their WEDDING STOOL and their 1000cc CERAMIC CARAFE received the runner-up status achievement 2010-2011.
