The more items you hang on it, the more stable it gets; that is the main statement regarding this object. Coat hangers very often have stability issues; jackets, coats, sweaters etc. can lean the hanger. In Axel's case, while being designed, designers used gravity as an ally, to help its users to keep the tall hanger centered using its mid axis. Axel is a high quality product. Build by only two elements; a steel joint and a massive wood leg. Multiplied by three. Easy to repair since it's hand built.
Ivan Levak is a creative director and designer from Zagreb who grew up in Milan and was educated in Holland and Germany. He started his creative adventure during his college days as a volunteer to create an event that later will become Croatian's first design week called D-Day (Design Day). Being able to meet all the design scene at that time, he starts doing his first product design collection for a very important, local design shop called Modus. After learning how to be an independent senior designer, he moves to Holland to master his graphic design skills and learn more about hospitality and spatial design. Then he moves to Berlin and finishes his internship in a mid-scale art production team as a product designer. With this international experience he gets recruited by a international startup to be their R&D product researcher. His latest vision is to build up his design studio and scout all the creative young bloods and make them future design icons from Croatia.
We started our design story two years ago, in 2020. As Covid-Era started, there was a need to produce and create during this 'static' period. We grabbed a coffee and decided to make a project together. Since we are both from the same School of Design, the development process was smooth and dynamic. We like to keep our creative ideas: reduced, effective and easy to produce. Axel is our first project. Ivan - a sense of essential problem - solving and curiosity drives the 4D ideas he has communicated with his students, team members, colleagues and clients since 2009. Grew up in Milan, got educated in Zagreb, finished his internship in Berlin, at Tomas Saraceno Studio. Loves Bruno Munari, Achille Castiglioni and Tadao Ando. Iva - possesses expertise in designing products with an intensive focus on customer needs, brand strategy and production capabilities. She holds a master’s degree in industrial design from the Design school in Zagreb where she grew up. After working for a few years in Croatia she relocated to Berlin where she is currently living and working. She is inspired by mixtures of different cultures and people.
