The rattan cane, used by many exasperating Singaporean parents to mete out corporal punishment on their children is the inspiration behind the sculptures. Good Boy Good Girl shows the immobilizing grip of societal forces on children in a fast-paced environment, and have been constructed in cane to reinforce this rigidity not only of body but also of mind.
Chan Hwee Chong is an creative from Singapore who likes to experiment with different field of art and design, from street installations, typography, art direction and graphic design. His works have been selected and exhibited at Spikes Asia, Noise Singapore and Higher Pitch London. He is also an invited artist for the Tokyo Designers Week 2014 at Milan Salone, Italy and Tomorrowland/One World Bridge, Belgium.
