About SuKang You : SuKang You is a motion graphic designer and visual artist specializing in digital media and environmental storytelling. With a background in compositing and on-air promotion (OAP), You explores the intersection of emerging technologies, such as AI and NeRF, to expand the boundaries of visual communication. As a graduate student at Hongik University, You has participated in collaborative exhibitions and received international recognition for digital media projects. Through research and creative practice, You focuses on integrating technology and design to address contemporary issues, particularly in sustainability and digital art innovation. Design and art are two forces that shape how we perceive and interact with the world. To me, design is the bridge between imagination and function, a means to solve problems while evoking emotions. It is not just about aesthetics but about communication, storytelling, and creating experiences that resonate with people. Good design is intuitive, purposeful, and leaves a lasting impact, even when unnoticed. Art, on the other hand, is the expression of thoughts, emotions, and ideas beyond limitations. Unlike design, which often follows a set purpose, art exists for the sake of exploration and meaning-making. It has the power to challenge perspectives, provoke emotions, and inspire action. While design seeks solutions, art raises questions. However, the line between the two is fluid; they constantly overlap and influence each other. My work lies at the intersection of technology, visual storytelling, and environmental consciousness. As a motion graphic designer with a background in compositing, I find myself drawn to the interaction between digital and physical spaces. AI, NeRF, and generative media are not just tools but extensions of creative expression, allowing me to push the boundaries of visual communication. The Plastic Heart project is a reflection of this philosophy—using digital art to visualize an urgent environmental issue. I believe that art and design can function as catalysts for change, shaping not only culture but also the way we think about the future. When combined with emerging technology, they open new dimensions for creativity and storytelling. My philosophy: "Design solves, art questions, and together, they shape the future."
