View Larger Image and Additional Photos of Mac NordmanAbout Mac Nordman : Mac Nordman is a designer and practical problem-solver. Mac has a reputation in the film, theatre, exhibition and custom furniture fields as being a bit of a master craftsman with wood in particular.
Mac has worked on 12 major film and tv series productions in Australia in various roles such as settbuilder props/ model maker and furniture maker, most stand out movie job was to craft the Viking furniture for the Viking ship in “Thor love and thunder”.
His creative thinking finds design solutions in a range of materials, forms and styles. Mac admires good design in any context and aspires to promoting best design practices using sustainably sourced materials.
Mac has a very Scandinavian style that leans heavily into retro futurism, finnish birch plywood and recycled items is often to be found in his creations.
Mac is intending to grow “Nordman Design” to a well known prestige furniture and lights design brand and hopes to find the right people to collaborate with that can make it all happen.
I would like to be extensively involved in Industrial Design and Furniture Design if I can find my place in it.
Since graduation, I have aimed to set myself up as a designer entity and run a small sustainable designer company. This is not an easy task in a country like Australia, whose population is relatively small.
I have taken many small steps to set up my Workshop and Studio space. From that base I try to generate designs that are meaningful in the contemporary world and which allow me to enter the furniture design field in a commercial way.
I do believe I live like a designer on a daily basis, since I have my self-created space from which I work and I'm still taking steps to be be more able and ready to become commercial in output when the opportunity presents.
