The difference between design and art is that design has a purpose (e.g. is it user-friendly or is it eco-friendly, lean and sustainable design now?). We listen to people in need and design something better and easier for others to use.
Art is a personal expression (I don't know) but it makes you question, think and feel.
Good work seems to transcend values (of art and design).
