About GERARDO MARCELO : Marcelo Cerda (SLP 1985) is a Product designer and passionate artist who focuses on the object expression. He studied Industrial Design at UNIVERSIDAD AUTÓNOMA DE SAN LUIS POTOSÍ (UASLP) in Mexico and did his Masters in Toy Design at the UNOVERSITY OF CENTRAL LANCASHIRE (UCLan) in the Kingdom United.
He worked for THE PUPPET COMPANY UK, designing a collection of dinosaurs and upon his return o Mexico started a wooden toys project called JungStuff, he also taught Lectures in the Industrial Design degree at ITESM. He has worked ceramics as an art-object and has worked under the tutelage of artists such as Bernardo Calderón and Luis Batres. He currently lectures at the UASLP and directs his ceramic project called MUGO CERAMICA. His work is characterized by exploring organic forms, where he seeks to capture movement and balance it with form and dimension. He has exhibited at the Museo Francisco Cossío in SLP, in PR1 GALLERY in Lancashire UK in galleries in S.L.P and San Miguel de Allende and has been selected to exhibit during DesignWeek México2019.
Design is the way to solve a problem focusing on details and bringing the user a proper experience when the product is used. Design has to be intuitive, expressive and symbolic in a way the user feels attached to the product.
