Landscape is defined by humans, existing as a cultural and aesthetic construct, a conceptual mixture of reality and unreality. Without the human, landscape would not exist.

Through the ritual and process of mark making, humans define themselves as active, creative beings, capable of interaction with their surroundings. They, in turn, bring definition to their surroundings.
