About Anam Khurram Javed : My name is Anam Khurram, i am a Textile designer from Pakistan. in April 2018, i did my final Thesis which was an interactive installation called "Ghalti Atkan". The idea for Ghalti Atkan was conceived because i studied in a school for 7 years in my childhood where i was physically abused and so were my class mates, as it was the norm. And while i studied there, two of my younger siblings passed away.

In the installation i conducted researches to find my own true self, to answer my own questions and to overcome my ordeal. i took those further to develop an experiential space where a sound piece was further used to amplify the experience and make the audience feel how "I" in that situation would have felt.

Apart from that, it was of course important for me to not just make the audience understand how i felt, but also to observe how the artwork would affect them in their own personal ways.

I received a certificate of Distinction for this artwork and a Gold Medal for excellence in Textile and Fibre Studies from Beaconhouse National University.

I feel that my artwork was not just about my personal experience, but also focused on the fact that i see beauty in pain. This idea was what i initially began with and explored why i felt so. Hence, my thesis had the imagery of burnt paper, veins, the colour of blood, texture of dead skin and the sounds were painful too. However, it was very important for me to make the point that whatever one might go through, one must always look at it in positive light and face their shortcomings in order to overcome them.

This project was not only important to me for myself, but also to help show others around me that we can not only overcome pain, but also face it, work with it and then be able to hold it as an achievement just like any other event in our lives that impacted us deeply and changed us for who we are at present.
