EDUCATION:
I was born in Tokyo, Japan. I studied information design at Tama Art University when I was undergraduate student. After that, I received my MFA from the Design for Social Innovation program at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) located in New York.
EXPERIENCE:
I'm currently working as a Visual Designer at Happify Health, a startup developing an online application that improves mental health.
Previously, I was a Visual Communication Designer at strategy/marketing agency Essense Partners. Focused mainly on improving the branding of clients in the energy sector, I conducted strategy based marketing and had been carrying out design operations across all manner of supported media.
In addition, I was working at the Service Design Studio team at the Mayor’s Office for Economic Opportunity as a Graphic Design Apprentice in 2018. The Service Design Studio is unique in that carries its own brand identity within the greater NYC Opportunity brand. I was working on promoting a more unified brand voice for target audiences and creating a clear plan for moving our brand strategy forward.
MIXED EXHIBITIONS:
I led a team of engineers to create and launch a wearable device before moved to New York. We created STACHA, a necklace that enables the wearer to experience the feeling of stuttering. We were invited to exhibit STACHA at the SXSW Interactive Festival in 2017.
AWARDS:
I was a part of the Verizon Connected Future fellowship while I was at SVA. On this team, I worked on VRbal, a smart VR experience that uses machine learning to help the user prepare for a specific anxiety inducing event of their choice. VRbal has been selected as one of 12 teams to compete in the 2018 US Imagine Cup Finals, and isan official Semifinalist in the 2018 Adobe Design Achievement Awards.
