About Mamiko Kuraoka : Mamiko Kuraoka is a relatively new designer of jewelries. The motifs of her jewelry is different from others in the sense that each creation is a representation of a location somewhere in the world, or a scene that leaves a lasting impression. PETHICA Jewelry aims to bridge the present with the past, connect here with somewhere, acting as a vehicle for the heart to wander freely. As an award winning brand, PETHICA has been featured in several department stores throughout Japan.
STATEMENT OF ART:
Designs are not created from scratch but born from the heart, originating from personal values and experiences. Being an avid traveler, most of my designs are related to a location or a scenery somewhere in this world, such as the pink flowers and blue doors in the small town of Fira on Santorini island, the sky reflecting on the surface of Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, a street corner full of colorful flowers in Provence, and a beautiful moon rising over the Sahara desert. Visiting those locations created striking images in my memories, which eventually crystallized to become the motifs of my jewelry designs. Many fans and followers of PETHICA Jewelry appreciate the value of travelling, and thus they sense the beauties and wonders of the locations in the world that are embedded in my jewelries.
