View Larger Image and Additional Photos of Makoto FurihataAbout Makoto Furihata : In order to understand Japanese architecture, he often goes to see old wooden buildings in various areas of Japan such as Kyoto and Nara. He thinks that it is an important study to sense new things by returning to the origin of Japanese architecture, and wisdom and thought of the predecessors. Learning from classics is not limited to architecture. He believes that it is common to all fields. Based on that idea, he designs building.
One of the beauty of Japanese buildings is that there are eaves out. The depth of the eaves prevents the direct sunlight of summer into the building, and the light enters the building in the winter. It also produces a shadow by the depth of the eaves and creates the beauty of depth. I am always aware of the wisdom of the predecessors from the classics, design essences and the climate of the land. And I constantly think about Japanese beauty and design it carefully.
