| DESIGN NAME: Lacexotic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Home Decor INSPIRATION: Lace is a decorative cloth made by twisting thin thread in delicate patterns which is widely used in fashion industry. Is elegant, exquisite, gorgeous, sexy and kind of ultra-luxurious fabric décor. The idea of Lacexotic comes from two words; lace and exotic, with which designer wants to create a unique style that differ from usual pattern and usage of lace. Pattern were inspired by the Middle East, Moorish and Islamic style, presented stereoscopically on home decoration items, making the lace a brand new image. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design brings a new perspective on lace, inspired by Middle East, Moorish and Islamic style, three types of lace pattern and color designed, the Pentagram, Mandala and Flower Tile. With high-quality embroidery technology and exclusive stereoscopic lace production method, adapted to a series of exotic lace home decoration, bringing a unique style for a unique market, hoping to foster the diversified development of innovative fashion aesthetics. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The rich cultural implication of patterns is combined with complicated and gorgeous lace, which provides light diffusion and decorative light through the lampshade, showing the bright light and shadow covering the entire space, creating a romantic atmosphere and delicate light and shadow changes; the combination of flowers and plants inherits elegance Noble temperament; the ring-shaped tray is both practical and decorative, reinterpreting the home decoration series of products, showing different new feelings. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2018 and finished in July 2019 in Tainan, funded by Tainan city government Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, and was exhibited in Blueprint Culture & Creative Park during Tainan Design Expo in December 2019 curated by Prof.Chung Sheng Chen. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Lace pattern and color design inspired by Middle East, Moorish and Islamic style, stereoscopic lace production method by using fabric stiffener and draping liquid as curing process, with the help of pre-made mold to solidify, making the plane lace to become three-dimension sophisticated and gorgeous appearance. TAGS: Lace, Exotic, Home Decor, Table Lamp, Vase, Tray, Middle East, Moorish, Islamic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Most of the traditional lace is presented in a plane form, in this series of home decor research, we explored new production techniques and unique insights, presents lace in three dimensions, and reinterprets new perspectives of lace. The essence of lace is their patterns that conveying some cultural meaning. Developing the lace patterns and colors from the Middle East, Moorish and Islamic style scenario that create unique mood in styles, and extend the lace aesthetics that are different from the past. CHALLENGE: The challenge is in the process of making lace furnishings. During this period, various curing agent proportions and mold selection were matched. After countless tests and innovative concepts in modeling, subsequent results were achieved, adding to the feeling of home. Exotic and visually stunning beauty.
