| DESIGN NAME: Apartment Oceania PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Residence INSPIRATION: An art collecting family loves the culture of oriental and western design. Designer puts the western element like white marble column, ceiling molding and wall panel with trim throughout the house. Warm grey and white is the main color of the design, which create a neutral environment for mix and match of sofa by Giorgetti and Ming's Dynasty antique chairs in the living room. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This property is located in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong, that has a tremendous panorama sea view. Floor-to-ceiling windows let abundant lights into the rooms. Living room is comparatively narrow than usual, designer tries to enlarge the space visually by using mirror panel as one of the wall feature. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Giving a neutral background, designer uses the classic style chandelier in living room and modern style crystal pendant in dining room, both by Baccarat, France. Area rug and stool engraved with dragon pattern, which is from Jean-Paul Gaultier by Roche Robois, France. It is a taste of oriental and western elements that is classy, luxury and sophisticated. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To have the combination of modern and classic style, color is the main ingredient. It is represented in gray, silver, white, black, beige. Designer minimize the use of color and materials so as to bring all the attention to the panorama sea view. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This apartment is around 2000sq.ft. It comes with one 4 bedroom and 3 baths. TAGS: mix culture, modern classic, sea view, panorama, antique chair, chandelier RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Timeless design is a way to keep your home last forever, always look fresh, look like yesterday, and look like future. The background should be neutral, and not busy while the style, color and materials that were meant to last. Beige, gray and off-white are the classic color that mainly used in this design. Marble and fabric wall paper are balancing each other in order to keep the atmosphere becomes more harmony. CHALLENGE: Due to the building structure limitation, the layout is restricted and cannot change dramatically. Designer keeps all the bedroom function and uses a folding bed design in the study room which could turns to guest room when necessary.
