NAME: Krakowskie Biuro Festiwalowe PROFILE: Krakow’s largest festivals, spectacular entertainment for audiences reaching as many as a hundred thousand members, events heralded in Poland and across Europe in the fields of music, theatre, film, fine arts and literature – this is the work of the Krakow Festival Office – one of the most active institutions in Polish cultural life. Brought into being to showcase Krakow as the European City of Culture in 2000, the office has continued its work, and for years now has been bringing the cutting edge trends in management of events and cultural programmes to the city. It was at the initiative of the KFO that such festivals as the multiple award-winning Sacrum Profanum and Misteria Paschalia were created, as well as the Film Music Festival and the ArtBoom Festival. The office also co-ordinates the most talked-about municipal cultural strategy in Poland – the Six Senses programme. Thanks to highly publicised national promotional campaigns carried out by the office, as well as its broad informational and publishing activities, the KFO has taken a prominent place in the promotional strategy of the city of Krakow, both within Poland and abroad. |
