DESIGN NAME: Post Herbum
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging
INSPIRATION: Herbalism is one of the many cultural heritage of Lithuania. Whole herbs by their purity and fragility inspired to create a unique packaging for them. The main aim was to create an attractive and convenient package for whole herbs grown in Lithuania.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The box was made for whole herbal tea. The tea box has an unusual triangular shape with sleeve. To pack two types of herbs, the packaging takes on a diamond shape as the style continues. Since the product is natural, the packaging was designed to be environmentally friendly, organic. Die cut of the boxes was invented in a such way that the boxes are folded in a simple way, without gluing or fixing parts. Sleeves are also folded without gluing. Design includes the solution of such tasks as usability, functionality and environmental friendliness.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: All parts of the boxes are folded without glue.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Vilnius College of Technologies and Design thesis project. The project started in February 2019 in Vilnius and finished in Juni 2019.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The basic box designs are selected with eco-friendly double-sided brown paper (Ecoline Brown Duo, 290 gsm), which in color and material corresponds to the intended purpose of eco-packaging. For the pockets paper is selected paper (Scandia Natural 240 gsm) with a light milky-white color that fits brown color tone.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The main aim was to create an attractive and convenient package for whole herbs. Such packaging should competitive on the shelf.
Based on the theoretical part and the research, it was observed that box-shaped packages are the most popular, pastel colors and subtle illustrations prevail. Triangular box was chosen, which
would comply with the principles of organic packaging and suitable for secondary use. The natural color palette and lightweight design are also maintained. The unique brand was created that addresses the user and sends a message about product features through special inserts in packaging.
CHALLENGE: The main obstacle was to create an unique shape for packaging, which should be organic and convenient for use.
