INSPIRATION: The aim of the SV Villa is to live in a contemporary house, in the middle of the city, with the privileges of the countryside. Traditional constructive elements were used such as the tile roof, stone, ceramics, brick, solid wood beams, among others. Likewise, passive energy solutions, natural resources and proximity materials were used.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The garden and its elements establish the relation between the interior and the environment. A corbel is used to regulate the sunlight and skylight, and also allows natural ventilation. It is a project designed with energetic passive solutions, natural resources, and zero kilometers materials. Handmade bricks from a local factory are used to modulate the space. The house focuses on local materials and traditional production methods while maintaining a very high level of aesthetics.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The handcrafted brick pieces were designed in the studio. Its particularities are the composition, texture and color. For the manufacture of the brick, it uses a mixture of sand and clays from the Baix Camp and arid regions of the Baix Ebre. Together, they give the brick a balance of elasticity and hardness. Four molds of different dimensions were designed according to their functions. Two of them are on the back, one to fill and the main piece configures the rig, allowed the desired finish. The colors of the brick depend on the exposure to the flame, so it gets a more or less a reddish color. Result achieved through the artisan process.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The House SV shows sensitivity and respect for the place where it is built; production methods are used to link its constructive tradition with contemporaneity, there is a special attention to the details and the materials. A house to live in contact with the garden and the surrounding nature with incomparable views of Barcelona.
CHALLENGE: The unit of the brick and its dimensions determine the size of the spaces. It also determines the module of the steel frames that are supported by the tops of the brick walls. This metal grid modulates in an elastic way according to the user's needs and desired limits. It is a flexible systematization that gives an implicit order throughout the project. Through the fits we integrate the solid oak beams into the steel profiles that form the grid.
