DESIGN NAME: Poufs With 1000 Ways to Arranged
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pouf
INSPIRATION: When cutting a circular piece of paper into slices and playing with them , the pieces fell into so many shapes and patterns while connected to each other so the idea grew to make a child's toy. This developed into building a toy for adults to play with, therefore Chairry was born.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This furniture gives the users emotional stimulus in the ways the poufs are set up as a person at the library can use a single pouf to create their own space, the pieces can be turned on their sides and connected for meeting areas or put into a fun circle form which always attracts children to play.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Unlike an open space with an ordinary pouf, these poufs can be set up stylistically in eye catching patterns for interior decoration or used functionally in a circular formation for peoples’ interaction as well as separated into smaller groups of two or three for persons’ privacy.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April, 2019 in Taipei and finished in August, 2019 in the same location.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As cutting a pie, the designer moved each piece as if the pie shapes were connected together and made a square. Then he thought about what he could make using this design idea. Initially, the designer thought about creating a children's toy. Finally, he decided to create something where people could rearrange modules to suit their need. This could incorporate functionality with individual creativity.
CHALLENGE: The making skill is a difficult challenge. The designer visited tatami maker, bamboo artist, grass weaving studio. None of them could make pie shape furniture, not to mention link them together. After surveying many places, the designer decided to use fleece fabric for sitting comfort concern.
