Interview with Marco Guariglia at Friday 29th of May 2020 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? MG: I was cutting a circular piece of paper into slices and playing, the pieces fell into so many shapes and patterns while connected to each other so the idea grew to make a child's toy. This developed into building a toy for adults to play with, therefore Chairry was born. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? MG: I'm trying to use pure Echo friendly materials to renew this design. It is a project that goes well in the public and use it with lots of people. I'm working on for letting it goes well by using it out door. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? MG: It took me three weeks to make the idea come ture. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? MG: Most of the furniture makers rejected making this project because they are afraid of making moving furniture. I visited tatami maker, bamboo artist, grass weaving studio. None of them could make pie shape furniture, not to mention link them together. After surveying many places, the I decided to use fleece fabric for sitting comfort concern.
