| DESIGN NAME: Chinese Quadrangle PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: "Although the folk custom and classical rules are antiquated, the classic can still go on in today's landscape." This is a line in the Chinese Quadrangle Courtyard by Qi Qin. This design is a Chinese quadrangle courtyard. Although this quadrangle courtyard looks inconspicuous from the outside, you will find a world all its own as you walk in, with every brick and tile emitting a strong and unsophisticated atmosphere of life. With a deep grasp of Chinese traditional culture, space scale and human settlement concept, the designer integrates modernity and tradition into a beautiful picture. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: "Pieces of clay tiles connect the ancient with the modern, enhance the unsophisticated and good-neighborly affection. The old eaves were filled with happy laughter and cheerful voices. Although the courtyard is low and hardly comparable to the modern buildings, its warm and fresh earthy atmosphere can draw your hearts closer, dispel loneliness and make your dreams more visible." The Chinese quadrangle courtyard, as the crystallization of traditional wisdom and civilization, is also a dynamic architectural model worthy of our reference in today's increasingly common urban housing. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Entering the courtyard, the first thing is a brick screen wall, next to the heads in shape of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. Further inside, the wide external corridor forms a broad perspective, and the landscape in the middle of the corridor blocks part of the vision, arousing for further exploration. The side rooms and wing rooms of the second inner courtyard are equipped with guest rooms and public facilities. After passing through the winding veranda comes the guest room, where the guest can enjoy the landscape and well relax. The third inner courtyard is the reception hall. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In terms of the form of the courtyard, the designer endows the space with layers based on the traditional quadrangle courtyard, including the landscape of the sky and the ground, integrating the landscape into the courtyard and creating an overlap between the inside and the outside. The arrayed brick walls are made entirely of grey recycled bricks. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project area is 5460 square meters. Throughout the planning process, the Zhuwei team adheres to the principles of ingenuity, sincerity, meticulousness and reassurance, and deeply grasps the traditional Chinese culture, spatial scale and human settlement concept, and walks away from the psychedelic feelings of modern and ancient times. The owner was presented a beautiful picture. CHALLENGE: As an architectural design culture passed down by Chinese architecture, Quadrangle has a profound cultural heritage and research value. The hardest part of the design process is to show its cultural value.
