INSPIRATION:
Lianchi Lake, famous for its early lakes filled with lotus flowers, is a place of cultural interest in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. It is also a place for residents to enjoy leisure. When the weather is good, the surface of the pool is sparkling, and the rain is foggy. In addition to the lotus field on the surface of the pond, the nature of the nearby Wetland, there are also centuries-old temples. In 1996, the design of the lakeside landscape reconstruction project in Lianchitan was carried out by Jack Chen. He carried the soft lines of the lakeshore into the trails and lakeside buildings. The building is a 14F residential building located around the shore of the lotus pond. When Jack Chen first entered the hall when it is building , He saw a huge shaft, like a big column. At first, he tried various ways to desalination, which did not help. Later, he decided to circle the lotus pond. In the blooming lotus water of the lotus flower, finally he found the answer.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Spatial reshaping: applying a large sculptural shape to reshape the space and create a visual focus. First, make a large curved ceiling with a wood texture at the entrance height, and form a base at the bottom of the curve. Then on the right side, the shaft column is decorated into an ellipse, and the surface is surrounded by three lotus petals. In the visual experience, it is like a budding lotus carrying the entire lobby space. In the continuation of the space reshaping method, the restroom is covered with a curved wooden texture wall extending to the ceiling, and the floor-standing bookcase below forms a space protagonist.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Incarnation of the shaft into an abstracted lotus flower, the mass is converted into three petals of free curvature.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in November 2018 in Kaohsiung City and finished in September 2019 in Kaohsiung City.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
1."The Budding Lotus" as a concrete link with the image of the lotus pond. 2. Incarnation of the shaft into an abstracted lotus flower, the mass is converted into three petals of free curvature. 3. Lotus symbol. Like Lianchitan, as a resident's emotional dependence, it continues to carry the lives of the residents and also carries the building.
