| DESIGN NAME: Gome Haitang Bay Kimpton Resort Hotel PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: Haitang Bay is a rising vacation resort in China, and a lot of hotels have been developed in the neighborhood area. With little local culture and history that can be used, we turn our eyes to the character of nature and finally select the concept of "cloud" to develop this area. The shape of this building follows the smooth line of a cloud and will bring a brand new feeling to everyone. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This hotel is located in the core area of Haitang Bay, Sanya, China, with the design of special "cloud" shape, this hotel represents a new generation of hotel concept with modern architectural language, which not only brings unique experience to guests, but also integrate art with building and environment perfectly. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project integrate the view of mountain, river and ocean together to create a beautiful sight and integrate multiple functions such as swimming pool, entertainment, bar, catering, fashion, wedding, vertical greening and chapel together to create new experience for guests. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design of this project starts in August 2015 and finished in December 2018; the construction starts in March 2019 and it's under construction now. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Land use: 134092.91 sm GFA: 100583.91sm Building Height: 45m Keys: 227 TAGS: cloud, hotel, innovative, resort, Kimpton, China RESEARCH ABSTRACT: With a semi-hidden arrival to express the elegant character of high-end resort hotel, Sanya Kimpton hotel owns a drop-off area with tropical forest theme and a unique space which can bring surprise to guests upon their arrival. The meeting area have an independent drop off zone on the west side which connects with the wedding garden of the hotel. As of wedding facilities, a wedding chapel with the theme of "holy cloud" can be found in the middle of a small artificial lake by the mountain. The main public area of the hotel, such as special restaurant, pool bar, fitness center, entertainment, children facilities are concentrated in the first floor with the concept of "innovative village", and modern style swimming pools, water pools, lotus pools and water falls decorates the facilities together with characterized landscape. CHALLENGE: The location of this hotel has certain distance to the coast and coastal protection forest can also be found there. Thus lobby view to the ocean is blocked if the height is below certain level. By flexible function allocation and development of inner garden, all public areas except lobby and all-day dinning are concentrated in lower levels to enjoy the view of inner garden. The lobby and all-day dinning are lifted to the top of the building and integrated with garden in the air to make a maximum utilization of natural resources, and this solution not only perfectly resolved the limitation of ocean view, but also created a great lobby view that can enjoy the sight of mountain, river and ocean together.
