DESIGN NAME: Digital Design Days
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rebranding
INSPIRATION: The new brand signature came up after a research and analyzation of the spirit, the values and the personality of Digital Design Days. The "d" that has been created is light, energy, movement. Jekyll & hyde wanted to design a rebranding still able to summon the previous editions one and to communicate the festival's innovative vision and its ability to create networks, to attract, to propose and make people with different ideas encounter.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Digital Design Days is an international digital design event. The logo designed is a responsive sign, able to adapt to the dimension of usage by changing the frequency of the single elements of which it is made, resulting in obtaining an efficient utilization in every different application. It’s a contemporary viewing of brand signature, imagined as a vital and alive structure able to overcome the two dimensional feature.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The new brand identity has to represent the internationality of the multiple events. The logo has to be able to adapt by changing and transforming itself so to be displayed into different sizes and so to be representative of its internationality (changing colors to characterize the different event places). Its natural environment is the digital world where it has the capacity to evolve and to show its tridimensional feature, but it still works in the printed world too.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Jekyll & hyde started to work on this project in September 2018 when Filippo Spiezia, the founder od the Digital Design Days festival, asked them to redesign the identity of its series of events. The rebranding has been showed to the public on July 2019. It has been a long process of research and elaboration to define the new brand signature.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The elaboration of the concept and its possible design solutions were initially designed on paper, then the studio used illustrator (Adobe cc 2018 suite) to develop and realize the new Digital Design Days brand identity. To be able to create a variable logo we've used the morphing tool studying, for each needed dimension, the correct solution of frequency.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Digital Design Days logo has been designed using a rbg native tones palette made of nine colors so to be able to define different festival editions of different countries. The black and white version has been studied and redesigned creating a line version of the logo so to be able, eliminating shadings, to have the same visual result as the colored one.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The initial part of our research was focused on study all the festivals linked to design, especially to digital design. This analysis was visual yet strategic on the positioning of these brands. Then the studio worked on analyzing the values and personality of Digital Design Days, sharing their thoughts with the founder of the event, so to better define it. Then personality definition led to the style definition and only after developing the insides of the brand, we started to design the outside, the shape, the appearance.
CHALLENGE: With this project jekyll & hyde studio had to present the digital world and its complexity and, at the same time, to adapt it to different sizes and different supports. From small size to bigger ones, the solution reached by the team is able to adapt itself from digital to print. The challenge was to create something new but keeping the previous idea of the pixel as the digital smallest unit still alive. Something that could renew the old logo repositioning it in an international space and in a contemporary world.
